Friday and Saturday were consumed by an art and writing and bookmaking frenzy. I made four samples. What fun. I brought them along and promptly left them at the office on Sunday morning, so no samples with me at the workshop.
Did it matter? Well -not really. They saw what their product would look like and the 22 participants came up with some lovely illustrations, and many more took the book home to embellish later.
How did we make these? - folded the interior pages in half along with a fancy and heavier paper for the outside cover. The pages are sewn together with wax coated thread and tied with a simple knot. I added a watercolor door to this one. Collage works very well for this. I may use this in my Memory book class.
I did, however, promise to post my samples, so here is one. Others will appear soon on the book art page. Thanks to Barbara Brown for inviting me to demo once again.
Here is one of my poems from my sample.
And if a picture is worth
a thousand words
How important is it that we title it?
What are the words worth?
Do they add value?
Make it easier
And ha ha
Students in Art history
Not to deal with yet another
I can’t name it.
Let me try again to
Paint this story for you,
Color in my meaning.
Draw you closer.
FYI: I almost always title my work - and make that part of the story.
Thanks for reading. May you find something that inspires you today.
