My go to medium is watercolor. It challenges me to work quickly and exercise patience. It forces me to plan, and to go with the flow. My experimentation with it ranges from working very small to just how big can I paint? Purchasing paper by the roll allowed me to paint in a heroic scale. Watercolor on rice paper encourages fresh simple and direct composition. Paintings shown above include works on my favorite 140 lb. cold press paper, along with textural rice papers, and watercolor canvas. Some pieces combine watercolor with pastels, collage, and/or acrylic medium.
