Ypsilanti Art
Pianos Around Town
It was hotter and colder and more defined, and boogie woogie fun to once again paint the old Baldwin piano in front of Nelson Amos Studio. Yes - the Pianos returned to Ypsilanti for another visit this fall -the 3rd annual event that placed pianos in front of local businesses during the day allowing anyone one to sit and play. Sit and play? Hurray! Live music outside. Korin Amos organized this once again, and she invited me to repaint the piano that I covered with crazy fish a couple years ago. This year we made a couple changes; acrylic stays a whole lot better than washable tempera and picking a theme made it easier yet more involved. This piano and others are back at the Steinway store in Northville, MI....upstairs from a children's art studio. Children making music inspired me to include just that. A parade of children making music was inspired by a web image, but grew to fill the length of the panel above the keys. Below Picasso's Three Musicians morphed into a new band with all ages joining in. Sides feature famous art works about music with a spin as they weave into new compositions. Loads of pictures are on my Facebook art page. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=416760015050321&set=pb.117936561599336.-2207520000.1352908195&&theater
